Mechanical Construction

MMC Contractors was selected as the mechanical contractor for the major expansion project at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia, which will provide a new state-of-the-art emergency department, expanded heart and vascular services, and additional patient rooms to the existing Gainesville Campus.

The new 921,081-SF building will allow for the expansion of existing diagnostic and treatment services such as Surgery, Cath/EP, Non-Invasive Cardiology, and the Emergency Department. In addition to diagnostic and treatment expansions, this project will add 120 new beds with shell capacity for up to 72 additional beds, making this the third largest healthcare facility (by bed count) in Georgia.

The structure will be composed of 10 levels plus a mechanical penthouse. The project will also include structured parking for approximately 450 cars as well as a new central energy plant to support services for the new building. The CEP is located on a vacant parcel at the corner of South Enota Drive and Sherwood Park Drive. CEP will require a large utility tunnel to connect to the hospital. The new facility will also be structured to support vertical expansion to include two Diagnostic and Treatment floors above the ED, as well as a future bed tower.
