Lancaster County Adult Detention Center

The Lancaster County Adult Detention Facility is a new correctional facility built by the county due to overcrowding at its current facility. The facility is a mixture of minimum security dormitory-style housing, maximum security, and specialty housing. The facility is currently designed to house 700 inmates with the possibility of expanding to 1000.

MMC Contractors provided piping including chilled and hot water supply/return, sanitary waste/vent piping, storm drainage and a complete domestic water system. The building’s utilities are served to a main mechanical room (from a central utility plant under separate contract), and distributed to six different penthouses that serve the separate cell pods.  The facility also includes multiple bathroom groups, a full service kitchen and a laundry room. MMC Contractors also provided piping for the in floor heat for the 16,000 SF outside exercise areas.

In order maintain costs, MMC lead the 3D coordination efforts to resolve structural engineering conflicts, as well as reduce field installation time and allow other trades to continue on their scope of work.  As part of the coordination, MMC has worked closely with the Inspectors to provide all necessary piping requirements in order to meet code.
