MMC Contractors was selected by Robins & Morton to provide complete preconstruction and construction services for the new 140-bed Tenet Healthcare Corp. hospital in western El Paso, Texas. Tenet Healthcare Corp and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso are building this new teaching hospital that will serve as an additional teaching site for medical students, nursing students, residents and faculty from TTUHSC's Paul L. Foster School fo Medicine. The hospital is designed to incorporate Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED ) concepts and will seek certification when complete.
After nearly a full year of preconstruction services and Building Information Modeling (BIM), construction is underway on the new 306,000 SF hospital and a Topping Out ceremony was held on Monday, October 12, 2015. As part of our Lean Construction practices, we have established an on-site fabrication shop to expedite the prefabrication of all plumbing, medical gas and piping system,s and to reduce the time it takes to deliver the piping to the installation location.
This is the second hospital for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences system in El Paso that MMC Contractors will have completed when the hospital opens in 2016. In 2012, the University Medical Center of El Paso was completed; it was also a Robins & Morton project.
