Pharmaceutical
Serologicals Biotech Laboratory

CRB Builders selected MMC Contractor to perform the mechanical systems installation for the biotech facility located in Lawrence, KS. The current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) compliant facility was a design-build effort of CRB.

MMC Contractors provided laboratory and utility mechanical installation throughout the new 40,000 SF facility. MMC Contractors provided installation of all utility room mechanical systems including:

  • Hot & cold glycol pump skids
  • 316 stainless steel process piping throughout
  • HEPA air filtration systems
  • Clean steam
  • Water-for-Injection (WFI)
  • Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems
  • MMC Contractors also assisted in commissioning of the installed equipment.

The facility was designed as a cell nutrient production facility and will produce a protein derived from cow’s blood to be used in pharmaceutical processes.

The design-build project was completed in 21 months and was the cover story in the December 2004 Design-Build (DBIA) DATELINE magazine.

In 2011, MMC Contractors made clean steam, process piping and equipment modifications for the new owner.
