During the 1980’s MMC Contractors and Turner Construction formed a joint venture to develop and construct the world headquarters, laboratory and manufacturing facility for Marion Labs in suburban Kansas City, MO. Marion Labs was sold in 1999 and is now known as Sanofi-Aventis.

MMC Contractors’ scope of work during the initial construction project included site development for utilities, construction of a central utility plant, process piping, complete plumbing and HVAC installations for all office, clean room laboratory and production facilities.

MMC Contractors has maintained a continual presence in the campus manufacturing and office park since it was originally constructed nearly 30 years ago. Our plumbers, pipefitters and millwrights have performed numerous production line installations and upgrades, central utility plant upgrades and modifications (Building M Expansion project), and numerous small and large HVAC plumbing, process piping, manufacturing and packaging line projects throughout the 700,000 SF campus.

In 2009, when part of the office buildings were sold to the Cerner Corporation, we performed a separation of the Central Utility Plant which allows multiple owners to control their own energy resources generated in the pharmaceutical park.

Today, MMC Contractors still provides construction and maintenance support which allows the company to scale up production to meet new product launch demands. This facility is one of the Sanofi-Aventis Core Solids manufacturing sites world-wide. Some of the products developed and produced at this facility include the Allegra® line, Cardizem®, Amaryl®, Gaviscon®, Altace®, Ditropan® tablets and oral liquid, and Ketek®.
