Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inv. (BIVI) Biological Center

The Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. (BIVI) project was a 70,750 sf expansion of the existing 20,000 sf facility.  Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. manufactures and markets an extensive line of high quality biological and pharmaceutical products for cattle, swine, horses, and pets for a worldwide network.

MMC Contractors installed all HVAC piping, plumbing, compressed air, vacuum, laboratory gasses and cryogenic systems in the 70,750 square foot addition. When completed in 1998 the expanded BIVI facility in St. Joseph, Missouri incorporated the most advanced design in fermentation and bioreactor suites. The multi-level design uses gravity transfers of sterile products through closed process transfer systems. A complex network of programmable logic controllers communicates instructions to perform media and product transfers, clean-in-place and steam-in-place operations. The facility has nine independently classified environments which are controlled by a high-speed building automation system.

Turner Construction and MMC Contractors were recognized by Liberty Mutual Group for the Commendable Safety Record on this project.
