Houston Northwest Medical Center

Our scope included construction of the complete plumbing, medical gas and HVAC systems for the 7-story tower addition and renovations, and a new central energy plant. The project includes 162,000 sq. ft. of new construction and 20,000 sq. ft. of renovations. Project total size is 182,000 square feet and included a 45,000 sq. ft. emergency department, new intensive care unit, two med-surg units and two shelled floors for future expansion.

Central Utility Plant equipment installed includes (2) 850-Ton Chillers, (1) relocated 750-Ton Chiller, 2400-Tons of New Cooling Tower, (2) New 500 HP Hot Water Boilers and (1) New Steam Boiler.

Challenges on this project include extremely limited lay-down and staging areas while conducting renovation work on a functioning hospital with no disruption to patient services. These challenges were successfully met by carefully scheduling all work in stages, and by pre-fabrication of plumbing and HVAC work.
