FBMACH- Martin Army Community Hospital at Ft. Benning, GA

The Fort Benning Martin Army Community Hospital (FBMACH) is a 752,400 square foot replacement hospital and clinic with a 21,000 square foot central utility plant that are being constructed under a design/build format to LEED Silver requirements.

MMC Contractors was selected by Turner Construction to be part of their proposal team which was successful in winning a "Best Vale" proposal competition with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USAEC). FBMACH is a $350 million overall project with a mechanical value of approximately $70 million. The Fort Benning Martin Army Community hospital is the first design/build hospital in the United States issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the USACE judged the team's proposal to be the only one that zero deficiencies in all technical aspects, including the MEP portion.

The design teams "Best Value" designation was achieved by designing an energy performance system 30% better than the ASHRAE 90.1 specifications for a new hospital. Further modeling suggests that the design may be as much as 50% better than ASHRAE 90.1. At 30% improvement levels it will be among the most energy efficient large hospital designs in the United States.

MMC Contractors has established an 18,000 sf fabrication shop near the site to expedite the fabrication of plumbing, medical gas and HVAC piping assemblies, equipment skids and pipe racks. Our BIM leader remained located in our Kansas City office while 2 CAD/BIM operators were on site producing the drawings. Our project management and supervision team were able to begin fabrication of equipment skids and system components as drawings were released. The hospital is currently under construction, with the Central Utility Plant nearing completion. The project is on target to be completed in mid 2014.
