Johnson County Airport Adult Detention Center

MMC Contractors was selected by Turner Construction to provide all plumbing and HVAC system installations for this 300+ bed 150,000 sf expansion project at the Johnson County Airport Adult Detention Center in Gardner, KS.

MMC Contractors fabricated the plumbing and piping for this project in our Kansas City, MO fabrication shop. The layout of the facility was designed in such a manner that rest room facilities for each cell could be fabricated in units for two or more cells. These toilet batteries were installed in chase areas behind inmate cells, often before the chase was complete, or even before the floor was poured, as illustrated in the photos on the right. In the higher security areas on the ground floor, toilet batteries were installed in chase areas prior to exterior wall and roof construction. By manufacturing the 125+ two-toilet batteries in our Kansas City fabrication shop and trucking them to the suburban detention center site, MMC Contractors was able to stay ahead of the schedule and reduce on-site field labor while controlling the quality of our work.
