MMC Contractors and our joint venture partner Thomas J. Dyer Company were selected to provide the complete plumbing, piping, laboratory gas piping, and HVAC work for the University of Kentucky new College of Pharmacy building in Lexington.
The 3rd ranked pharmacy program in the United States has expanded with a 280,000 sf new College of Pharmacy Building which will be the largest academic building in Kentucky and among the largest in the nation.
The five-story structure includes state-of-the-art academic and research facilities for educating future pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists as well as providing laboratory space for faculty’s pharmaceutical and clinical research programs.
The building includes two 235-seat auditoriums, a 110-seat classroom, a 54-seat classroom, a teaching laboratory with compounding lab and patient assessment rooms, and 19 small group/study rooms and a Vivarium.
While this project was under construction, our joint venture team also performed the HVAC Core and Shell package on the new 1.1 million square foot Albert B. Chandler Patient Tower also located on the University of Kentucky medical campus. These two major expansion projects on the university medical campus were constructed simultaneously, using completely different project management and field teams.
