Mercy Medical Center

MMC Contractors provided preconstruction and construction services for a new 6-story, 134 bed full service 369,917 sq. ft. replacement hospital and a new 15,000 square foot Central Energy Plant located on approximately 70 acres in Rogers, AR. The campus master plan includes a new Medical Office Building that will be approximately 90,000 sq. ft. which will be developed at a later date.

MMC Contractors secured a building near the site for prefabrication of medical gas and other plumbing and piping in the early stages of the project. As accessibility to each floor became available, MMC Contractors employees installed the prefabricated piping, keeping the project ahead of schedule in most cases. Construction was completed in approximately 30 months and the new medical center opened in 2008.

Mercy Medical Center incorporated a number of LEED building standards in the design and construction of the new facility, but did not pursue LEED certification. However, after the hospital had been open for a full year, it joined a short list of hospitals nationwide to receive the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency Energy Star certification in 2009. Changes in the heating and cooling system alone save the hospital $200,000 annually. The Energy Star certification must be renewed annually.
