MMC Contractors Kansas City Forms JV and Wins Hospital at Fort Riley

Thursday, March 31, 2011

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI - Yesterday afternoon during a 2nd scope review meeting with Balfour Beatty/Walton, the P1/MMC Contractors joint venture was awarded the Ft. Riley Irwin Army Community Replacement Hospital project.

The Kansas City office of MMC Contractors formed a joint venture with P1 Group to specifically target this 571,000 SF hospital project.

The MMC Contractors' business development/estimating team have worked on this project for the past 12 months. The level of service provided by the team was clearly noticed by the Balfour Beatty/Walton selection team and a key ingredient in their success.

The team starts work immediately, with the final contract to be executed in approximately 1 month. The hospital, clinic, central plant and parking garage project is being designed to meet LEED Silver minimum standards and has aggressive local and minority participation requirements which have been achieved by our selected subcontractors.

This will be the team's second major military hospital in as many years; and the third hospital designed with LEED Silver guidelines. It also is significant in that it takes the office's healthcare backlog to nearly 2.4 million SF.

The MMC Contractors Kansas City office currently has the following hospitals in various stages of pre-construction or early construction:

  • MaineGeneral Hospital, Augusta, ME 617,740 SF
  • Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, KY 440,000 SF
  • Martin Army Community Replacement Hosptial, Ft. Benning, GA 725,000 SF
  • Irwin Army Community Replacement Hospital, Ft. Riley, KS 571,000 SF
