MMC Contractors Featured in Midlands Business Journal's Olympic Swim Trials Article

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Midlands Business Journal featured MMC Contractors' mechanical work on the Olympic Swim Trials pools. The core of the mechanical work was installing three 2,000,000 btu pool heaters to warm the water for the Olympic Time Trial Pools.

The project included two pools, the competition pool and the warm-up pool. Both pools are integral to the success of the event. The competition pool holds an estimated 1,000,000 gallons of water, while the warm-up pool holds approximately 850,000 gallons of water.

Four years ago, the construction time for the pools was 30 days. However, scheduling conflicts narrowed down the construction time to just 10 days – which is one of the shortest timeframes ever allowed for the construction of two Olympic quality pools.

"The whole world is watching," MMC Contractors President Jacob Vogel said of the significance of the project. "You have some of the best athletes in the world coming to Omaha."

The Olympic Swim Trials will run from June 25, 2012 to July 2, 2012 in the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb. This event is held to determine which athletes will represent the United States in the London 2012 Olympic Games.
